Top 10 Action Steps for Players to Get Recruited!

COVID-19 has had an impact on the College Recruiting Process but there is a lot you can be doing to get ahead of the game!

The majority of the fall college seasons were cancelled, postponed or rescheduled.  Some colleges are playing their fall season in the spring or having non-conference games.  

NCAA also established a Dead Period, which means DI college coaches are not allowed to attend “live recruiting” events until May 31, 2021.  DII, DIII and NAIA college coaches can do “live recruiting” and they are attending games, showcases and ID Camps.

Once May 31, 2021 hits, DI college coaches will be out in full force recruiting for their upcoming seasons.  Do your best to get on their list so they can come watch you plan in action!

Make sure you update your Player Profile for college soccer recruiting.

College Coaches receive hundreds of emails from potential recruits.  When you send an email to a college coach, it is very important to include your Player Profile so the college coaches can start to put a name with a face.  In addition to being able to see your face, college coaches will also want to see your Academic and Athletic Accomplishments and Achievements.   

These are the basics that your Player Profile should include:

Headshot Picture - I recommend being in your uniform for this picture and making it look very professional and high quality.

Personalized college soccer recruiting email address - For example, [email protected] or [email protected] 

Academic Achievements - High School, GPA, Honors, Awards etc... 

Athletic Achievements - Team Name, Position, Level of play, Jersey Number, Awards, ODP, US National Team/Pool experience, Rankings etc...

College Soccer Recruiting in the New Year 2021!

It's a New Year and it's time to get recruited to play college soccer.  College coaches are preparing their spring season with games and recruiting.  College coaches will have a busy schedule due to the timeline changes, but they will be on the look out for new recruits to come into their program. 

What do you have to do to make sure you get on their list?

1.  Make sure your Player Profile is set up and up to date!  This is your online resume and college coaches need to see your Athletic and Academic Achievements, along with your references and contact info.

2.  Soccer Highlight Videos are huge right now!!  College Coaches are in front of their computers much more now.
